It's all fun and games until...

What a blast we had today! We are members of a Co-Op Preschool and today we had our own preschool version of the Olympics. We had potato sack races, egg balancing races, straw races, bow and arrow shooting and just general fun.The weather this week has been gorgeous. It's been in the 70s but there's a lot of cloud cover and wind so we haven't been hot or cold. Babcha Nina is here for the week and must have brought some of the California weather with her :D.
We met at one of our favorite parks with 20+ members of our Co-Op for a great day. Any day with a ton of preschoolers in one location is bound to be chaotic but we seem to thrive in it. It started out with some normal every day park play and then we brought out the games. Yurchik said his favorite was the egg race while Luca preferred the straw racing and Anze says seeing the diggers (they were actually ride on lawn mowers cutting grass at the park) was his favorite.
The boys did a few new regular park adventures as well. This park has a "net" to climb and for the first time ALL 3 boys were able to climb up to the top on their own. No one fell, no one got hurt, no moms called 911 (although blood pressure may have elevated a bit!!). It was such a proud moment to see them all up there and independent. It's still bittersweet to think that just a few months, weeks, even days ago they needed my help doing something and now they can do it on their own. Children really do grow up a lot faster than you can imagine. It's nice to just slow down and take it all in every once in a while. I met a new mom today and she was amazed that the twins were preemies; everyone always is. Some days I even forget like today while they are 10 feet in the air climbing like "normal" kids! We are truly blessed.
After our Olympic games, we ventured off to see the animals they have at the park. It's not a petting zoo per-say just some animals on the other side of the fence you can say hello to. The donkeys were extremely friendly and came right over to the fence for some TLC. All the moms were constantly reminding the kids to keep their hands out of the fence, away from the mouths, etc...
It's all fun and games until YOUR son puts his entire arm through the fence and the donkey inhales it! Yes, Jr put his arm through the fence. Yes the donkey tried to eat it. The most upsetting issue to Yurchik was that of all things his shirt was dirty! A quick shirt change and all was right in the world and he was laughing about it on the car ride home. I'm so glad he recovered quickly (quicker than a mom or 2 on our playdate!). He was a great example to the other kids about keeping their hands on their side of the fence! Life lessons are learned every day, everywhere we go!
Here's a few pictures of our adventure today!
